Gutierrez Takes Oath as NCSC Chair

Manila: Former Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez on Thursday took her oath as chairperson of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) before Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo. The first female Ombudsman and former acting Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ) was accompanied by her three children.

According to Philippines News Agency, Gutierrez has dedicated her career to public service, with significant achievements as chief presidential legal counsel and in various capacities within the DOJ. Her extensive experience and commitment to justice, transparency, and the welfare of Filipinos are expected to guide her leadership as she undertakes the crucial responsibility of addressing the rights and needs of senior citizens in the country.

As chairperson of the NCSC, Gutierrez aims to champion policies and programs that will enhance the lives of senior citizens, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions to society are recognized.
