Pampanga: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), has initiated a new scholarship program aimed at equipping unemployed dependents of GSIS members and pensioners. This program is set to provide 75 training slots, with 25 slots allocated to each of the GSIS branch offices in Legazpi, Cebu, and Davao. According to Philippines News Agency, the scholarship program offers courses tailored to each region. For GSIS Legazpi nominees, Cookery is available, Bread and Pastry is offered for GSIS Davao, and Automotive Services is the course for GSIS Cebu. Eligible nominees must enroll only in the region-specific course identified by TESDA. The program targets unemployed dependents of active GSIS members who have permanent employment status, Salary Grade 15 or below, and have made updated premium payments for the past six months. It also includes dependents of GSIS pensioners within the coverage of the three participating branch es. Each member or pensioner is allowed only one nominee, who can be a spouse, child, or sibling of a single GSIS member. To qualify, nominees must be at least 18 years old at the start of training, unemployed at nomination and program start, and residents of the covered region. They must also meet TESDA's course qualifications. Applications will be accepted from January 20 to February 18, 2026, with forms available at the GSIS Legazpi, Cebu, and Davao branch offices. Applicants are required to submit a completed form and proof of relationship, such as a birth certificate or marriage contract, to the nearest participating GSIS branch. Scholarship slots will be awarded to members and pensioners with the lowest basic annual salary or monthly pension, with priority given to those with a longer length of service in case of a tie. GSIS branch offices will handle the application process and notify qualified applicants through their registered email address or mobile phone number.
