Gov’t employee falls in Surigao Norte buy-bust

BUTUAN CITY: Anti-narcotics agents have arrested an employee of the Surigao del Norte provincial hospital during a buy-bust operation, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Caraga Region (PDEA-13) reported on Thursday.

PDEA-13 identified the captured suspect during Tuesday's operation as Garry Asumen, 42, of Barangay Bad-as in Placer town, Surigao del Norte.

“The arrested suspect is classified as a high-value target,” PDEA-13 said in its report, adding that the suspect yielded a plastic sachet containing a gram of shabu with a street value of PHP10,000.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 was filed against the suspect.

Meanwhile, the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) also reported the arrest of two individuals classified as top regional priority targets for illegal drugs on Wednesday afternoon.

Joe Aguinaldo, 38, and Argie Trinidad, 26, were arrested during a buy-bust conducted in Barangay Agusan Pequeño here.

Confiscated from them were 16 grams of shabu worth PHP108,800.

In another police operation on Wednesday, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office also reported the arrest of Rey Parba Jualo, 33, of Barangay Tubo-Tubo, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.

The suspect, a subject of a court-issued search warrant, yielded six pieces of plastic sachets of shabu amounting to PHP13,600, police said.
