Gilas Women U18 Secure Dominant Victory Over Singapore in SEABA Qualifiers

Bacolod city: Gilas Pilipinas Women U18 waltzed into their second straight win in the FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers, overpowering Singapore, 83-53, on Wednesday at the STI West Negros University Gym in Bacolod City. The young Filipinas maintained an unblemished 2-0 win-loss record in the regional tournament, which serves as a qualifying event for the FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup. Five Southeast Asian teams are competing for the sole ticket to the continental competition.

According to Philippines News Agency, Tiffany Reyes delivered a comprehensive performance, contributing 18 points, seven rebounds, four steals, one assist, and one block to lead the nationals. Despite a slow start, the Philippines managed to hold a narrow 18-17 lead after the first quarter. The team then intensified their efforts in the second quarter, with Sophia Dignadice and Zaydhen Rosano igniting a 26-19 run, securing a 42-27 advantage at halftime.

Gilas continued to dominate in the second half, extending their lead to as much as 32 points during the game. Dignadice ended the match with 16 points, while Rosano added nine markers. This victory followed a commanding 93-42 win over Vietnam on the opening day of the competition. The Philippines is set to pursue their third consecutive win against Thailand on Thursday.
