Frasco Orders Removal of Image in Regional Tourism Materials

Manila: Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco on Wednesday announced that she has instructed all regional offices of the Department of Tourism (DOT) to remove any tourism materials featuring her image.

According to Philippines News Agency, the directive came after images of Frasco on tourism materials circulated on social media, attracting scrutiny. Frasco, speaking at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum, clarified that the materials might have been intended as 'welcome materials' during her visits and site assessments. She emphasized the importance of removing such images and instructed regional offices not to produce new materials featuring her.

Frasco also urged DOT offices to ask local government units (LGUs) not to let the issue distract from tourism development. She stressed that the focus should be on more pressing national concerns and requested that LGUs refrain from displaying tarpaulins with her image, noting that her political ambitions are not tied to such representations.

Furthermore, Frasco clarified that there was never any directive from her or the DOT to create or display these materials. She stated, "There is no order to revoke, because there has never been such order."
