Aritao: The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have seized PHP1 million worth of unregistered fertilizers and nabbed two individuals in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.
According to Philippines News Agency, the suspects were arrested in a sting operation last February 1. Confiscated items included various brands of assorted fertilizer and pesticide products, along with an Isuzu Crosswind used in transporting the goods.
FPA Executive Director Glenn Estrada stated that the government remains committed to its crackdown on illegal or unregistered agricultural products to safeguard Filipino farmers. Estrada highlighted the risks posed by these illegal products to farmers, crop productivity, and the environment. He emphasized that the operation serves as a warning to those involved in the sale and distribution of unregistered fertilizer products.
Estrada praised law enforcement agencies for their assistance and pledged continued cooperation. He commended the CIDG, the Aritao Municipal Police Station, and FPA Regional Field Unit II for their coordinated action, asserting that the FPA will persist in working closely with law enforcement agencies to enforce existing laws and protect the agricultural sector.
