Manila: Five entries were declared champions of the 2026 World Slasher Cup 1, a 9-Cock Invitational Derby held at the Araneta Coliseum from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1.
According to Philippines News Agency, the entries of Rod Advincula/ Tata Rey Briones/ Tony Kho (Greengold SPRTN-2), Don Guam/ Nad Mendoza (V Boyz NM), Jonarie Fortaleza/ Robert Santiago (Rueda 5 Gallera De Legaspi-1), and Biboy Enriquez (Firebird Angels) finished with 8-1 win-loss records in the grand finals last Sunday. The entry of Pep Goitia/ Alvin Aranez (Alab 2028-Red 2 Feb/ 24 S Ynares) also scored eight points during the pre-finals on Jan. 31.
"I'm happy that we won, it took two months to prepare our entries for this tournament," said Fortaleza of Silay City, Negros Occidental, during an interview on Thursday.
Art De Castro (Thunder Kids), Ito Ynares (Ynares Coliseum Feb 17 6-cock sa NCA Traditional), and Josefina Dela Cruz (Reyna ng Rueda) bagged runner-up honors with 7.5 points.
