Baguio city: A graduate of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) - Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (CSITE) has made history by becoming the first from the institution's diploma course to place fourth in the national Master Electrician licensure examination.
According to Philippines News Agency, John Henry Solera Cubarol, a member of the fourth batch of the Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program, secured the rank with an average rating of 86 percent. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the results on April 28, reporting that only 493 out of 882 examinees nationwide passed the exam.
CSITE Executive Director Daisy Bungallon stated on Thursday that the achievement proves that the institution is "at par with other institutions, even if we are new." The school recorded a 100 percent passing rate, with all four of its candidates successfully hurdling the board.
Bungallon attributed the success to a competency-based curriculum that aligns with PRC standards and industry requirements, highlighting the government resources invested in TESDA campuses. Established in 2019 under Republic Act 11192, CSITE offers diploma courses where scholars receive free education alongside cash, book, and review allowances.
In addition to licensure success, the institution has excelled in the World Skills Olympics. During the 2025 event in Manila, which featured more than a thousand competitors, CSITE participants earned first and third place in the cookery and baking categories.
