Filipinos in Israel Advised to Take Caution Amid Strikes Against Iran

Tel aviv: The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv on Saturday advised Filipinos in Israel to stay indoors and prepare to seek shelter due to consecutive Israeli and United States strikes against Iran.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Israel Defense Force had previously stated that it was preparing for the possibility of missiles being launched toward its territory. In response to these developments, Israel was placed under 'essential activity status,' leading to the suspension of all classes and prohibition of gatherings.

The embassy issued a strong advisory urging all Filipinos in Israel to remain inside their homes and be ready to enter a mamada or shelter when there is an urgent alert. Filipinos requiring assistance have been provided with a 24/7 emergency hotline at +972 54 466 1188.

The situation escalated when Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran, followed by an announcement from President Donald Trump about the commencement of a "major combat operation" in Iran. Trump claimed this action was in response to Iran's alleged attempts to rebuild its nuclear program and develop long-range missiles, which he stated posed a threat to allies in Europe, overseas troops, and potentially the American homeland.

Anadolu news agency reported that sirens were heard across Israel and explosions were noted in Tehran, with visible thick smoke over the city. Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran's parliament National Security Committee, responded on X, warning that the situation was now beyond control.
