Fil-Italian Skier Francis Ceccarelli Secures Eight Medals at Montenegro Championships

Montenegro: Filipino-Italian alpine skier Francis Ceccarelli showcased a remarkable performance by clinching eight medals, including three golds, at the National and Junior Championships held in Montenegro from March 9 to 13. This achievement comes after his participation in the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina in February.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 22-year-old Olympian won his first gold medal in the men's giant slalom event during the National Junior Championships in Kolasin on March 12. He outperformed fellow Olympians Brandislav Petrovic from Montenegro and Harutyun Hartyunyan from America. Ceccarelli further added to his medal tally with two golds in the slalom events, competing in the Entry League FIS 1 and Entry League FIS 2 categories on March 13.

Ceccarelli's five-day FIS campaign began with two silver medals in slalom events on March 9, followed by two bronze medals in the slalom events during the Junior Championships and FIS Kolasin on March 10. He also secured a silver medal in the giant slalom event in the National Championships on March 11.

In expressing his commitment to his sport and country, Ceccarelli stated, "I try to bring the Philippine ski high, and I am honored to represent it." His achievements serve as an inspiration to other Filipino athletes pursuing their Olympic aspirations, demonstrating that perseverance and opportunity can lead to the global stage.

During the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Ceccarelli finished 54th out of 81 competitors in the men's giant slalom discipline.
