Fair Weather and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect Philippines

Manila: The prevailing easterlies will continue to cause fair weather and localized thunderstorms across the country on Tuesday. In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also forecast the easterlies to cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Northern Samar and Eastern Samar. Severe thunderstorms could result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA added. Meanwhile, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will still prevail across the archipelago.

According to Philippines News Agency, no low-pressure area is being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, as stated by PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres. PAGASA on Monday declared the end of the northeast monsoon or "amihan" and the start of the warm and dry season.

The highest forecast temperature on Tuesday is expected to reach 34°C in Zamboanga and Davao. As for the heat index, or the temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity is combined with actual air temperature, PAGASA said it would peak at 40°C in Dagupan City, and 34°C in parts of Metro Manila. Earlier, PAGASA urged the public to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress.
