Eala Bows Out of Miami Open After Loss to Muchova

Miami: Filipino tennis player Alexandra Eala has exited the WTA 1000 Miami Open after a decisive 6-0, 6-2 defeat to Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova, who is currently ranked world No. 14. The match concluded in one hour on Monday, with Eala, who was a semifinalist in the previous year, unable to overcome Muchova, a former world No. 8.

According to Philippines News Agency, Muchova, who recently clinched victory at the WTA 1000 Qatar Open, will advance to face the winner of the matchup between No. 8 seed Mirra Andreeva and No. 10 seed Victoria Mboko from Canada. In other matches, Andreeva secured a win against No. 32 seed Marie Bouzkova from the Czech Republic with scores of 7-6 (4), 6-2, while Mboko defeated Anastasia Zakharova, 6-1, 7-5.

Meanwhile, top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka triumphed over American Caty McNally with a 6-4, 6-3 win, setting up a fourth-round encounter with No. 23 seed Qinweng Zheng of China, who eliminated No. 16 seed Madison Keys from the USA, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Third seed Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan emerged victorious against Ukraine's No. 27 seed Marta Kostyuk, 6-3, 6-4, and will next face Australia's Talia Gibson, who upset No. 18 seed Iva Jovic from the USA, 6-2, 6-2.

American players Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova, and Hailey Baptiste also advanced to the round of 16. No. 4 seed Gauff defeated fellow American Alycia Parks, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1; No. 5 seed Pegula overpowered No. 26 seed Leylah Fernandez from Canada, 6-2, 6-2; No. 6 seed Anisimova bested Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtseva, 6-4, 6-2; and unseeded Baptiste surprised No. 9 seed Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, 6-3, 7-5.

Additional winners included No. 12 seed Belinda Bencic from Switzerland over Diana Shnaider, 6-3, 6-3; No. 20 seed Sorana Cirstea from Romania over No. 21 seed Elise Mertens from Belgium, 6-3, 6-2; No. 25 seed Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia over No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini from Italy, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5; and Romanian Jaqueline Cristian over No. 11 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5).
