E-Transport Loan Initiative Opens for Negros Occidental Operators Eyeing EV Shift

Negros occidental: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Small Business Corporation (SBCorp.), is now accepting applications for the E-Transport Loan from small transport operators in Negros Occidental. As of Wednesday, the financial institution has received at least four applications in Negros Occidental, which are awaiting assessment and document verification.

According to Philippines News Agency, the SBCorp. stated that the E-Transport Loan, with a PHP2-billion facility, was launched this month in response to rising fuel costs and to support small transport operators shifting to electric vehicles. The initiative aims to reinforce support for transport stakeholders while accelerating the shift toward cleaner and more efficient mobility.

Applications can be submitted through the SBCorp. Money Mobile App. Borrowers may access up to PHP1.5 million per vehicle, with a cap of PHP3 million, payable up to five years under competitive terms. The newest loan program finances and supports transport network vehicle service drivers and operators who have valid Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board authority and proper business registration.

Applicants affiliated with platforms such as Grab Philippines, JoyRide Philippines, and inDrive may qualify, subject to documentation requirements. They must submit a certification or statement of account from the transport network company (TNC) confirming active status and historical trip volume. The driver-operator or fleet operator is the direct borrower and obligor, as TNCs are not eligible as borrowers under the program.
