DTI Exec Optimistic on Game Development Industry’s Growth

Cologne: A Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) official on Monday expressed optimism about the further growth of the domestic game development industry after Philippine representatives to Gamescom 2025 secured around USD4.87 million worth of confirmed and potential sales. ‘Gamescom 2025 proved to be a game-changer for the country’s game development industry. The B2B (business-to-business) engagements during the fair allowed Philippine studios to forge partnerships that will propel our industry forward,’ DTI-Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) Assistant Director Maria Katrina Rivera said in a statement.

According to Philippines News Agency, DTI said six studios, namely Neun Farben, Ranida Games, Animation Vertigo, GameOps, Yangyang Mobile, and the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP), joined the event held in Cologne, Germany, from Aug. 20 to 24. It said the sales leads are for potential ‘publishing deals, outsourcing contracts, and co-production projects that can attract new investments, create high-value jobs, and expand opportunities for Filipino talent in the global market.’

Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Berlin Commercial Counselor Nicanor Bautista said they continue to tie-up with German industry leaders. ‘The enthusiastic response from European partners underscores the Philippines’ competitive edge in game development services, paving the way for deeper collaborations and investments that will benefit both nations,’ he said.
