Dinagat islands: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) released Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) assistance to 236 tourism workers in Dinagat Islands on Tuesday. Beneficiaries from various towns across the province experienced livelihood disruptions after typhoons Tino and Uwan struck the island province in December 2025. DSWD-13 distributed a total of PHP2,392,332 in cash assistance, with each recipient receiving PHP10,137.
According to Philippines News Agency, the two typhoons caused damage to tourism boats, homestays, boat rentals, and other tourism-related sources of income in the province. DSWD-13 emphasized their commitment to supporting early recovery and promoting resilience among affected communities to ensure no one is left behind.
Emelinda Rasa, a 61-year-old resident of Tag-abaca in Basilisa town, was among the recipients who expressed gratitude for the government support. Rasa noted this was the first time her family received aid through the DSWD, calling it a significant boost to their recovery efforts. "Our boat was damaged after it hit the rocks due to the strong waves. When I learned that there was assistance, we were extremely happy and grateful because we did not expect it, but it truly came," Rasa said.
