Negros occidental: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its field office in the Negros Island Region (NIR), has distributed over PHP119 million in emergency cash transfers (ECT) to 18,829 families affected by Typhoon Tino in Isabela town and La Carlota City.
According to Philippines News Agency, the beneficiaries in these areas received cash assistance under the DSWD's ECT program over the weekend. This financial aid is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to ensure timely support for families impacted by disasters, facilitating their recovery from typhoon-related losses.
In Isabela, approximately 11,709 families were provided with PHP81.2 million in cash assistance, offering essential financial support to households in need. Concurrently, 7,120 beneficiaries from La Carlota City received PHP38.2 million in cash aid.
These disbursements were made possible through the joint efforts of the Angels in Red Vests (ARVs) from the DSWD's Walang Gutom Program (WGP), the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD's Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) stated on Monday that ECT payouts will continue for families whose homes and livelihoods have been impacted by recent calamities in various provinces. She reiterated Secretary Rex Gatchalian's order for field offices to provide assistance to those affected by disasters to expedite their recovery.
