Negros occidental: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed over PHP92.5 million in emergency cash transfer (ECT) payouts to 15,018 households in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, whose homes were damaged by Typhoon Tino.
According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to expedite aid delivery and ensure affected families receive adequate support for rebuilding. DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group emphasized the need for an urgent and organized response, highlighting the collaboration with local governments to validate beneficiaries and expedite assistance.
In addition to household support, the DSWD, in coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT), extended over PHP5 million in emergency cash aid to 488 tourism workers in the region. The aid was distributed across several localities, with each beneficiary receiving PHP10,325. Notable allocations included PHP1.9 million to 190 tourism workers in Sagay City, PHP1.27 million to 123 beneficiaries in Cadiz City, and PHP598,850 to 58 beneficiaries in Escalante City.
Further distributions were made to 29 beneficiaries in Calatrava, 41 in Ilog, and 47 in Bago City, with amounts corresponding to the number of recipients in each area. Dumlao reiterated that the Emergency Cash Transfer aims to provide immediate relief to those who lost homes and livelihoods, ensuring assistance reaches those most in need through close coordination with local government units and partner agencies. The payout process will continue until all qualified beneficiaries have been reached.
