DPWH Targets Completion of Cebu Expressway Segment in Six Months

Cebu city: Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday promised to complete the unfinished infrastructure projects, including the ongoing segment and collapsed sections of the Metro Cebu Expressway (MCE) in Naga City, Cebu. Dizon stated that the construction of the 4.55-kilometer segment of the expressway, which has been stalled for eight years, will be finished in five to six months upon the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dizon emphasized the need to complete long-delayed projects during his inspection of the MCE. He mentioned that this expressway in Cebu exemplifies a persistent issue within the DPWH, where projects remain incomplete for extended periods. Despite the segment being only four kilometers long, it has yet to be completed after eight years.

Dizon has already ordered the deployment of additional equipment and DPWH personnel to ensure that the MCE is completed on time. He also said the DPWH is ready to help expedite the implementation of the larger portion of the MCE that is under the supervision of the Cebu provincial government.
