Bacolod: The Department of Public Works and Highways-Negros Island Region (DPWH-NIR) has issued an alert to the public regarding individuals who are soliciting money from contractors by falsely promising government projects.
According to Philippines News Agency, the advisory highlighted that these individuals are reportedly demanding commissions from contractors. They are misrepresenting themselves by claiming to have communicated with Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto and even presenting photos with him to substantiate their claims.
The advisory further warns against these individuals who falsely assert representation of proponents for the 2026 projects. The DPWH-NIR top management has emphasized that no one is authorized to solicit money or favors for any government project, stating that such actions are illegal and will be addressed accordingly.
