DPWH Commits to Finish Cabanatuan City Access Road by Year-End

Cabanatuan city: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has committed to completing the access road that will link nine villages in Cabanatuan City to the Central Luzon Link Expressway (CCLEX) by the end of this year. Secretary Vince Dizon stated that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed the DPWH to prioritize the development of access road projects across the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, Secretary Dizon emphasized the importance of collaboration between local and national government bodies to ensure the project's success. During a visit to Nueva Ecija, he acknowledged the efforts of Cabanatuan City in paving the road and expressed the department's responsibility to support the city's initiative. Dizon also addressed the issue of stalled projects in the province due to insufficient funding and pledged to allocate necessary resources for their completion.

The commitment follows the recent unveiling of a four-kilometer section of CCLEX in Cabanatuan City, which President Marcos attended on March 31. This section is part of a broader east-west corridor in Luzon, connecting Tarlac to Nueva Ecija. The new road segment aims to drastically cut travel time between Tarlac and Cabanatuan City from 90 minutes to just 20 minutes. To encourage usage and alleviate traffic congestion on MacArthur Highway, the road will be toll-free until December and is expected to serve approximately 11,500 vehicles daily.
