Baguio city: The Department of Labor and Employment-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR) has reminded employers of the wage difference for workers who are on duty on Tuesday, during the Chinese New Year holiday. Based on Labor Advisory 01-2026, Feb. 17, 2026, is a non-working holiday nationwide, thus employees who reported for work will be entitled to an additional 30 percent of basic wage for the first eight hours of duty.
According to Philippines News Agency, an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate must be given to an employee who renders work in excess of the eight hours. Employees who are on regular day off but tasked to be on duty are entitled to an additional 50 percent pay on top of the eight-hour pay they must receive. The rule 'no work, no pay' is applied to an employee who does not work on the said day, the advisory said.
Meanwhile, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong also suspended classes in all levels in Baguio City for Feb. 18 to allow students to participate or watch the Chinese New Year grand colorful parade.
