Manila: The Department of Justice on Thursday denied Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo 'Pulong' Duterte's claim that a warrant of arrest has been issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sen. Christopher Lawrence 'Bong' Go and two others.
According to Philippines News Agency, DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez stated that verified information from the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime as of Thursday morning confirmed no such warrant has been issued by the ICC. "We confirm that we have not received any official communication from the ICC regarding the alleged issuance of a warrant of arrest against Sen. Bong Go," Martinez said in a statement.
Go, who served as a special assistant to former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte from 2016 until his election as senator in 2019, remains unaffected by these claims. Meanwhile, former President Duterte faces charges of crimes against humanity related to his administration's "war on drugs" from 2016 to 2022 and has been detained at the Hague since March 11, 2025.
Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla also denied any receipt of an ICC arrest warrant against Go and two former high-ranking police officers. In an interview at Camp Crame, Remulla suggested that Rep. Duterte might have been misinformed and cautioned against the spread of potentially harmful rumors. Remulla assured the public that law enforcement bodies are prepared to enforce legitimate judicial mandates while warning against spreading unfounded information.
