DOJ Asserts Criminal Charges Against Atong Ang Are Robust Amid Motion to Quash

Manila: The Department of Justice (DOJ) has affirmed that the criminal charges filed against fugitive Charlie 'Atong' Ang, related to the disappearance of several cockfighting enthusiasts, remain robust despite efforts by Ang's legal team to quash the arrest warrant against him.

According to Philippines News Agency, Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida emphasized that the government's case against Ang is built on solid evidence and remains strong. Vida remarked that while Ang's lawyers have filed a motion to quash, the DOJ is confident in its legal process and believes that justice will eventually prevail for the Filipino people.

Ang is facing arrest warrants from two courts for his alleged involvement in the disappearance of individuals connected to his cockfighting operations. He has been declared a most wanted person by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, which has offered a PHP10 million reward for information leading to his arrest. Vida noted that based on current information, Ang is still believed to be within the country.
