DOH Deploys Nearly 500 New Health Workers to Region 1 LGUs and Hospitals

Manila: The Department of Health in Ilocos Region: has deployed a total of 486 newly hired health professionals under the National Health Workforce Support System. This move reinforces the government's commitment to Universal Health Care and its Eight-Point Action Agenda.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOH-1 officer-in-charge Director Pretchell Tolentino announced that 168 health workers will be deployed to Ilocos Sur, 146 to La Union, 92 in Pangasinan, and 82 to Ilocos Norte. These new recruits, including nurses, midwives, medical technologists, and allied health professionals, will be assigned to provincial, city, and municipal health offices, as well as government hospitals, to bolster local health systems.

Tolentino emphasized that a strong health workforce is vital to achieving the goals of the Universal Health Care law, particularly in improving access to primary care and protecting families from health-related financial risks. "By deploying competent and committed health workers to our local government units and health facilities, we bring essential services closer to the people and ensure that no Ilocano and Pangasinense is left behind," Tolentino stated.

She also assured continuous support to the deployed personnel through capacity development, technical supervision, and close coordination with local government units.
