DOE Assures Enough Power, Fuel Supply During ‘Undas’

Manila: Public and private stakeholders have agreed on a closer tie-up to ensure adequate and stable power supply during the observance of Undas (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day) on Nov. 1 and 2. The Department of Energy (DOE), in a statement, said it is closely working with power generation companies, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), distribution utilities, and cooperatives ‘to maintain uninterrupted power supply throughout the holiday period.’

According to Philippines News Agency, contingency measures are in place to address potential demand surges or localized disruptions. NGCP and distribution utilities will maintain heightened vigilance and deploy technical personnel to respond promptly to any power-related issues.

The statement also said DOE is working ‘with petroleum retailers to maintain adequate fuel inventories and ensure efficient operations at gasoline stations along major routes, while actively monitoring fuel prices to protect consumers from unfair practices.’

It said owners of electric vehicles (EVs) may also access around 1,223 charging points nationwide. It said about 706 of these charging stations are in the National Capital Region (NCR), 268 are in North and South Luzon, 221 in the Visayas, and 28 in Mindanao.
