Dizon Urges Young Graduates to Combat Corruption in DPWH

Manila: Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon on Wednesday called on young Filipinos and fresh graduates to join the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and help get rid of corruption. At the first DPWH Campus Job Fair held at Mapºa University in Intramuros, Dizon urged them to apply, saying it is a "golden opportunity" for young engineers to be "part of the solution".

According to Philippines News Agency, Dizon emphasized the need for more young professionals to address the challenges faced by the department. He spoke at the opening of the job fair, which saw participation from more than 300 student-applicants. "Because that's what we need. We need more people to join us and try to solve all these problems," he stated.

The job fair aims to encourage the youth to assist with the ongoing changes in the agency, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to clean up the ranks of the department. Earlier, the President directed the DPWH to recruit young professionals to fill 2,000 vacant positions.

In addition to Mapºa University, the job fair is set to visit other schools in Metro Manila such as Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, Dela Salle University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and the University of the Philippines.
