Dizon Pushes For Completion Of Kennon Road Rehab Before Holy Week

Baguio city: Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has urged for the completion of rehabilitation works on Kennon Road before the Holy Week. The 33.5-kilometer road, a critical connector between Rosario, La Union, and Baguio City, sees an influx of visitors during this period.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dizon emphasized the importance of addressing traffic issues on Kennon Road, which includes an area currently reduced to one-way traffic. He stressed the need to repair the road before the expected rise in visitors during Holy Week. Additionally, Dizon highlighted the necessity of fixing the rock shed, which was inspected by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last year, as well as implementing slope protections on roads in Baguio, Benguet, and the Cordillera region.

Dizon also noted the President's earlier directive to maintain roads and bridges across the nation. He pointed out the long-standing neglect of infrastructure, resulting in numerous collapsing structures, some dating back to the era of former President Marcos. The Secretary made these remarks during his appearance as a guest speaker at the Panagbenga Flower Festival's grand street dancing parade and during his visit to check on infrastructure projects in the city.
