DICT-13 Mounts Starlink Kits for 2026 Palarong Pambansa in Agusan Sur

Prosperidad: The Department of Information and Communications Technology in Caraga Region (DICT-13) is installing 50 Starlink kits in athletes' and delegates' quarters in preparation for the 2026 Palarong Pambansa (National Games), set for May 24 to 31 in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. The initiative aims to provide reliable internet access for thousands of participants and officials during the weeklong sporting event at the Patin-ay Sports Complex, which will draw competitors from across the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, Aldren Butra, provincial officer of DICT-13 in Agusan del Sur, mentioned in an interview that the agency held a ceremonial launch and turnover of the Starlink kits last week, marking the start of installation. "These kits will be installed in the designated billeting quarters of athletes, coaches, and other officials of the National Games," Butra said.

He noted that over 40 schools across towns in the province are listed with billeting quarters. "Each of these Starlink kits will have a one-year internet subscription with three strategically located access points to ensure connectivity for participants during the games," Butra added. The installation of the kits is expected to be completed by the end of March.

In a statement Thursday, DICT-13 explained that the connectivity kits are part of the agency's Free Public Internet Access Program. "The program aims to bridge the digital divide in public schools and learning centers while supporting national events," the agency stated. It emphasized that a stable internet connection helps sports participants stay connected with teams and families, access updates, and coordinate with organizers, ensuring a safe and enjoyable sporting experience.
