Calabarzon: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Wednesday initiated a two-day mediation drive to expedite the resolution of housing disputes and enhance consumer protection across the Calabarzon region.
According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative is spearheaded by DHSUD Undersecretary Odilon Pasaraba and Regional Director Ling Rigor. It is a critical component of the department's ongoing efforts to protect property consumers in the area. The department emphasized that the initiative is part of its Zero Backlog Program, aiming to offer faster, more accessible, and cost-effective dispute resolution services while bolstering consumer protection in the housing sector.
On the first day, 121 cases were slated for hearing and conciliation, providing parties an opportunity to reach amicable settlements and address longstanding concerns collaboratively. The mass mediation drive seeks to reduce the financial and administrative burdens on homebuyers by avoiding extended legal confrontations through proactive dialogue.
The activity will continue on its second day, with another 120 cases expected to undergo conciliation. DHSUD remains committed to ensuring timely case resolution and delivering responsive public service.
