Manila: Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling on Monday praised personnel who have embraced reforms while issuing a stern warning to those who are inefficient and fail to align with the agency’s zero tolerance for corruption, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive.
According to Philippines News Agency, Secretary Aliling, during the weekly flag-raising ceremony, emphasized the importance of adhering to the Department’s 8-Point Agenda, particularly the zero tolerance policy against corruption. He outlined three options for those not abiding by this policy: shape up, step out, or be kicked out. Aliling reiterated President Marcos Jr.’s clear directive to serve with honesty, efficiency, speed, and care.
Aliling highlighted recent accomplishments under President Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, including the enhancement of the community mortgage program (CMP). The revival of this program is expected to benefit around 7,000 families, with awards to beneficiaries set to begin by October.
In addition, Aliling announced the forthcoming rollout of the Expanded 4PH’s rental housing modality, with the University of the Philippines (UP) planned as the pilot site, pending approval from its Board of Regents on August 28.
On the progress of the Zero Backlog Program, Aliling commended the teams for reducing the backlogs related to Homeowners Associations (HOAs) and Housing and Real Estate Development Regulations (HREDR) from 3,000 to 900 in under two months. Despite this progress, he acknowledged receiving negative reports from certain regional offices and assured that appropriate actions would be taken following verification.
Aliling reaffirmed the DHSUD’s commitment to providing dignified housing while maintaining the highest standards of public service.
