Northern mindanao: The Department of Education in Northern Mindanao (DepEd-10) has strengthened its integrated anti-bullying policy in schools, in response to the recent school shooting incident in Tacloban City.
According to Philippines News Agency, DepEd-10 Information Officer Michael Dave Tan stated in a radio interview that the department has enhanced campus security and restructured its child protection mechanisms. A psycho-social component has also been implemented to address bullying incidents. Tan emphasized the importance of collaboration, noting, "We are also coordinating with local government units to ensure its effective implementation."
In support of these efforts, Maj. Joann Navarro, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 10, announced that the police will coordinate with DepEd to ensure the overall safety of campuses. Navarro mentioned that the police can assist in reviewing the security measures each school has implemented to guarantee proper execution.
