Naga: The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Camarines Sur and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Goa organized a 'Community PanTREE' event as a part of the International Day for Biological Diversity 2026 celebrations.
According to Philippines News Agency, Joan Mariscotes, head of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Bicol Region's (DENR-5) Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group, reported that approximately 1,000 narra seedlings were distributed for free at the Robinsons Naga Activity Center. The initiative aims to foster a greener and healthier environment through tree-growing activities and urban planting.
The Community Pan-TREE program is a DENR initiative designed to involve individuals, households, and organizations in environmental stewardship by providing free seedlings. Participants were encouraged to bring reusable or eco-friendly bags to collect their seedlings, further promoting conservation efforts.
Mariscotes emphasized the importance of community collaboration in environmental protection and conservation. She noted that other DENR offices across different provinces engaged in various activities for the Biodiversity Day celebration, highlighting the collective effort towards a sustainable future.
In CENRO San Jacinto, Masbate, a coastal cleanup, mangrove planting, and an information, education, and communication (IEC) campaign were conducted at Sitio Binaliw, Barangay Burgos, San Jacinto. This activity, which involved government offices and local officials, resulted in the collection of 46 sacks of trash and the planting of 100 mangrove seedlings.
PENRO Albay carried out a similar coastal cleanup and IEC activity at Barangay Lamba, Legazpi City, collecting 32 bags of trash, each weighing around 10 kilograms. Meanwhile, PENRO Camarines Norte gathered more than 68 kilograms of waste, showcasing the widespread commitment to environmental conservation.
