Dawlah Islamiya Member Killed in Police-Military Operation in Maguindanao del Sur

Maguindanao del sur: A suspect involved in the killing of a school principal in June this year was killed during a police and military operation in Datu Abdullah Sangki town, as confirmed by military officials. The operation resulted in the death of Norodin Andig, who was wanted for multiple murder and attempted murder charges.

According to Philippines News Agency, Andig, a resident of Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur, engaged law enforcement officers by opening fire during the operation, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. Brig. Gen. Edgar Catu, commander of the Army’s 601st Infantry Brigade, reported that Andig was linked to the murder of Alamansa Ambiton, the principal of Sapakan Central Elementary School, which occurred on June 10, 2025, in Barangay Sapakan, Rajah Buayan.

Military intelligence had also connected Andig to the killing of four other individuals in Rajah Buayan both this year and in 2024. Brig. Gen. Catu emphasized that the operation’s success was due to the coordinated efforts between police and military forces in Maguindanao del Sur.

Maj. Gen. Jose Vladimir R. Cagara, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, praised the operating units for their efforts and also acknowledged the support of the civilians in Rajah Buayan, which contributed to the operation’s success.
