Davao city: The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is gearing up for a surge of travelers during “Undas,” with daily passenger volume expected to reach between 50,000 and 80,000. DCOTT manager Aisa Usop said the terminal expects about 1,000 to 1,500 bus trips each day during All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2.
According to Philippines News Agency, Usop noted that the “ber” months typically see an increase in travelers, further contributing to the anticipated rush. To meet the demand, DCOTT has coordinated with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to issue special permits for additional routes.
Usop explained that in previous years, the terminal faced a shortage of buses, prompting closer collaboration with LTFRB to secure special permits, especially for high-demand routes. A help desk is also requested to be set up inside the terminal during Undas to expedite permit issuance.
For passenger safety, DCOTT has partnered with Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office to ensure security within and around the terminal. The facility is equipped with 32 closed-circuit television cameras, walk-through scanners, and baggage X-ray machines to monitor activity and enhance safety.
Usop reminded bus operators and drivers to strictly observe the ‘no pickup policy’ along highways, emphasizing it as part of the terminal’s security protocol. She urged passengers to follow DCOTT’s policies and guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience.
Operating 24/7, DCOTT serves 21 bus companies covering both northbound and southbound routes, including major operators.
