Davao: Davao Region's inflation rate for the bottom 30 percent income households increased to 2 percent in December from 0.2 percent in November last year, the regional office of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-11) reported Friday. In its bulletin, PSA-11 said the region's inflation was lower in December last year at 1.1 percent.
According to Philippines News Agency, the uptrend in the region's overall inflation in December 2025 was primarily due to the uptick in the annual price in the index of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose to 1.8 percent from -1.8 percent. The uptrend is driven by the information and communication commodity group, which recorded higher inflation at 3.5 percent from 3.3 percent.
Commodity groups that logged slower price movements in December 2025 compared to the previous month included alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which decreased to 3.9 percent from 4.4 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, which dropped to 0.2 percent from 1.3 percent; and furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance, which fell to 2.9 percent from 3.4 percent.
Slow price movements were also monitored in health, which decreased to 5.9 percent from 6.4 percent; transport, which fell to 1.1 percent from 2.0 percent; recreation, sport, and culture, which dropped to 5.9 percent from 6.4 percent; and restaurants and accommodation services, which decreased to 2.7 percent from 3.1 percent.
Meanwhile, the commodity groups of clothing and footwear at 2.8 percent, education services at 3.2 percent, financial services at 0.0 percent, and personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services at 4.2 percent retained their previous month's inflation rate.
The food inflation for bottom 30 percent income households at the regional level posted a faster price movement at 1.7 percent in December 2025, from -2.2 percent in the previous month. In December 2024, the food inflation was lower at 0.2 percent.
