Bacolod: The Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Island Region (DAR-NIR) has initiated a bike-to-work program as part of its efforts to encourage non-motorized commuting among its officials and staff. This initiative, named 'Padyak to Work' (Pedal to Work), was launched by DAR-NIR Director Lucrecia Taberna on Thursday at North Capitol Road. The program aims to reduce dependency on fuel and enhance physical fitness among employees.
According to Philippines News Agency, the launch event featured a ceremonial bike send-off from the North Capitol Road and a Zumba session held at the Provincial Capitol Park and Lagoon. The 'Padyak to Work' initiative is also part of the agency's gender and development (GAD) efforts, which focus on creating an inclusive environment that prioritizes the health and well-being of employees.
The DAR-NIR has also adopted a four-day compressed workweek, in line with Malaca±ang's Memorandum Circular (MC) 114. This arrangement requires offices to operate from Monday to Thursday, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. MC 114 mandates all government agencies to implement strict energy conservation measures, addressing the challenges posed by the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
