Dagupan city: The new director of the Dagupan City Police Office has announced plans to enhance police facilities and recruit additional personnel. Col. Arnold Solomon, who has taken over from Col. Orly Pagaduan, emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure and maintaining peace and order in the city.
According to Philippines News Agency, Solomon stated his commitment to increasing the number of police personnel and upgrading facilities to better serve the community. He highlighted the need for improved traffic management, road safety measures, disaster preparedness, and a strong campaign against criminal activities, particularly illegal drugs. Solomon also called for the support and cooperation of residents, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders to achieve these goals.
In a separate discussion, Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes, director of the Ilocos Police Regional Office, noted that the transition of the Dagupan City Police Station to a police office last year has already resulted in a significant increase in personnel. The police force has grown from over 200 officers to more than 400, with plans to recruit an additional 20 officers soon.
Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez expressed her commitment to continuing the collaboration with the police to uphold peace and order. She emphasized the importance of enforcing the law with fairness and compassion while strengthening community-based policing efforts. Fernandez expects the police force to remain responsive, disciplined, and respectful of human rights and the rule of law.
Col. Solomon, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Magilas Class of 2000, previously served as the chief of the Philippine National Police - Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group. He has also held several positions as chief of police in various localities within the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office. Solomon hails from San Carlos City, Pangasinan.
