Criss Cross Eyes Another Win Over Savouge in Spikers’ Turf Open Conference

San juan: Criss Cross eyes another victory over Savouge when they meet again in the Spikers' Turf Open Conference preliminaries Friday at the FilOil Playtime Centre in San Juan.

According to Philippines News Agency, the King Crunchers, led by league four-time MVP Jude Garcia, prevailed over the Spin Doctors last Sunday with scores of 25-23, 29-27, and 25-23. Rookie Alche Gupiteo, a former UST beach volleyball standout, is also expected to deliver. He scored 14 points and has contributed significantly in reception. Garcia stated in a news release, "It's still the same because what we practice is what we do. We just want to be happy with what we do every game, that will contribute to what we do on the court. When we're enjoying ourselves."

Savouge is seeking a breakthrough campaign with a roster bolstered by former Cignal Super Spikers standouts. Former Cignal ace Louie Ramirez scored 16 points, meshing well with mainstay Shawie Caritativo, while middle blocker JP Bugaoan, another former Super Spiker, added nine points against the King Crunchers.

Meanwhile, AEP-Cabstars also seek a repeat win against winless VNS Griffins at 1 p.m., aiming for their third victory in six games to strengthen their semifinal bid. Alpha Insurance Protectors (3-3) likewise try to replicate their three-set rout of 3B Event Masters (2-4) at 3 p.m. and stay in third place.
