Criss Cross’ 3-0 Start Hero Named Spikers’ Turf Player of the Week

Manila: Adrian Villados was named Player of the Week Monday for being instrumental in the Criss Cross King Crunchers’ 3-0 start in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference. He registered 22 excellent sets in their 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14 victory over PGJC-Navy on Oct. 27 at the FilOil EcoOil Arena.

According to Philippines News Agency, Villados, a product of Arellano University, dished out 20 excellent sets and four points in their 25-14, 25-15, 25-21 sweep over the VNS Griffins on Oct. 31. He delivered 34 excellent sets to conquer nine-time champion Cignal, 25-23, 24-26, 25-22, 25-18, on Nov. 2.

“There is a [pressure] factor, but I don’t think about it anymore because my veteran teammates, especially the coaches are there to guide me,” Villados, who is filling in for injured lead setter Ish Polvorosa, said. “That’s all, coach said, I just have to contribute to the team and just do my role as a setter, including my goal. And that’s it, just training and happy happy.”

Villados bested teammates Jude Garcia, Jaron Requinton, and Noel Kampton for the weekly honor given by the Spikers’ Turf Press Corps for the period from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2. Also in the running were Cignal’s Louie Ramirez, UST-Gameville’s Josh Yba±ez, Savouge’s Mark Calado and Reymark Betco, and the Alpha Insurance pair of Rocky Motol and Barbie San Andres.

Criss Cross eyes win No. 4 on Wednesday against Savouge at the Paco Arena.
