The 10-time champion Cool Smashers now hold a 1-1 slate after a previous 22-25, 17-25, 23-25 loss to the PLDT High Speed Hitters last Thursday. According to Philippines News Agency, the Flying Titans suffered their second consecutive defeat following a 17-25, 23-25, 20-25 sweep by the Akari Chargers. Creamline managed to regroup after losing the second set, securing the pivotal third set and capitalizing on the absence of Eya Laure in the fourth set to conclude the match in one hour and 57 minutes. Bernadette Pons, who delivered an impressive performance with 19 points, 18 excellent receptions, and 13 digs, stated, 'Coming into this game, everyone's mindset was to enjoy themselves, follow coach's (Sherwin Meneses) system, and apply what we practiced.' She added, 'Everyone gave their all and showed incredible hustle and effort.' Eya Laure was sidelined after an unfortunate collision with Tia Andaya while attempting to keep the ball in play following an attack by Tots Carlos. Meanwhile, Pangs Panaga contributed 12 points, with Jema Galanza and Tots Carlos adding 11 points each. Jia de Guzman supported the team with eight points and 20 excellent sets. Laure led Choco Mucho with 19 points, followed by Sisi Rondina with 15 points and Lorraine Pecaña with 10 points. Jaila Atienza and Kat Tolentino combined for an additional 15 points for the Flying Titans. In upcoming matches, PLDT is set to face Capital1 at 4 p.m. and ZUS Coffee will play against Akari at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the FilOil Centre in San Juan.
