Creamline-Cignal Epic Clash Honored as Game of the Year

Manila: The epic battle for the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino crown between Creamline and Cignal will be feted as Game of the Year in the 2nd Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards on May 30 at the Novotel Manila Araneta City in Cubao. The Cool Smashers claimed victory over the Super Spikers with scores of 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 16-25, 15-11 in Game 2 of the finals last April 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 17,000-strong crowd inside the Big Dome witnessed Cignal make a remarkable comeback from 2-10 to claim the second set, 25-22. The Super Spikers attempted to push the game to a decisive rubber match, leading 9-7, with stellar performances from PVL On Tour Most Valuable Player Erika Santos and 2026 AFC MVP Vanie Gandler. However, Creamline showcased its championship mettle as Jia De Guzman, Jema Galanza, Pangs Panaga, and Tots Carlos orchestrated an 8-2 run. Carlos delivered a decisive spike and blocked Gandler to secure the victory.

In addition to the main event, the Alas Pilipinas women's beach volleyball team, which clinched the country's first-ever gold at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, will be honored with a citation at the annual ceremony supported by Immuni+ and Rebisco. The Alas Pilipinas men's volleyball team will also receive recognition for their remarkable performance at the 2025 FIVB Men's World Championship, where they finished 19th out of 32 nations, along with their bronze medal achievement at the SEA Games in Thailand.

League officials, the broadcast team, and the Press Corps will also select the Stars of the Night during the annual gala, with one representative from the PVL and another from the Spikers' Turf.
