Baguio city: The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) have activated help desks to assist overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the crisis in the Middle East and their families. Director Jimmicio Daoaten announced that affected families can visit the DICT-CAR office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to utilize internet and computer facilities for contacting their loved ones abroad.
According to Philippines News Agency, an advisory released Monday stated, "The Help Desk and Communication Center is now open at DMW-CAR and DICT-CAR offices to provide immediate assistance and free communication support to overseas Filipino Workers affected by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East." The DMW urged affected migrant workers and their families to remain calm and promptly coordinate with the offices for any concerns or emergency assistance.
The advisory further emphasized the availability of free internet access, computers, and technical support to facilitate connection for those affected. Daoaten confirmed that DICT provincial offices in the region have also activated their help desks, encouraging individuals not to hesitate in seeking assistance to alleviate concerns.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-CAR Director Dina Ponciano highlighted the availability of the 1348 hotline for assistance. She advised OFWs in the Middle East to adhere to advisories from the Philippine Embassy and local authorities concerning the security situation.
