Manila: The provincial government of Dinagat Islands held the groundbreaking for three major infrastructure projects worth more than PHP31.3 million on Monday. The projects include the PHP6.5 million construction of Phase 1 of the Gender and Development (GAD) building, the PHP8.9 million multi-purpose building for the Provincial Motor Pool, and the PHP15.9 million access road that would connect the old and new medical buildings at Dinagat District Hospital.
According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. emphasized that the commencement of these projects represents a significant step in strengthening provincial services and improving the lives of residents. The GAD building aims to provide a dedicated space to advance programs for inclusivity, women empowerment, and protection of vulnerable sectors.
Governor Demerey also highlighted that the multi-purpose building for the Provincial Motor Pool is expected to enhance the efficiency of transport and logistics services, ensuring rapid and responsible mobilization of government resources. The new access road linking medical facilities is projected to improve healthcare access and patient care by providing faster and safer connectivity.
The funding for the GAD building comes from the province's five percent GAD Fund, while the Motor Pool project and the access road are financed through the provincial government's 20 percent development fund.
