Comelec Urges 1,727 Deactivated Voters in San Jose de Buenavista for Reactivation of Registration

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in San Jose de Buenavista has notified 1,727 voters whose registrations were deactivated, urging them to participate in satellite registration to restore their voting status.

According to Philippines News Agency, the deactivation occurred during a January 19 Election Registration Board hearing due to the voters' failure to participate in the past two elections. To address this, letters or notices were dispatched through barangay captains following a meeting with village officials on January 22.

The reactivation is essential for these voters to participate in the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE). Johnna Catilo, the Municipal Election Officer III, stated that affected voters could either attend the Comelec satellite registration, open until January 29, or wait for scheduled registrations in their respective barangays.

Additionally, the Comelec has removed the names of 87 deceased voters from the registry. Meanwhile, the ongoing satellite registration at Robinsons Place in San Jose de Buenavista has seen 55 applicants for new registrations, transfers, and reactivations since it began on January 21.

Voters are required to bring a photocopy of a government-issued ID and, for new registrations, a birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority. The commission also offers a Register Anywhere Program for individuals from other municipalities who cannot return home due to work or other obligations but wish to register in San Jose de Buenavista.
