Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has surpassed its 150,000 projected number of voter registrants for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), it announced on Wednesday. Data from the poll body show 161,429 applications processed from February 9 to March 31, the deadline of the registration period for the BARMM's first regular elections on the second Monday of September.
According to Philippines News Agency, Lanao del Sur registered the highest number of applications with 50,918; followed by Maguindanao del Norte with 31,666; Maguindanao del Sur with 26,175; Basilan with 21,734; the Special Geographic Area with 16,505; and Tawi-Tawi with 14,431.
Meanwhile, the Comelec processed 3,602,534 applications for voter registration nationwide from October 20, 2025, to March 28, 2026. The area with the highest number of applications is Calabarzon, with 602,159, followed by Central Luzon with 413,266, and the National Capital Region with 366,192. The area with the least number of applicants is the Cordillera region, with 49,821.
The voter registration period for the November 2 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections runs until May 18. The Comelec reminded the public that there will be no voter registration activities nationwide from April 1 (Holy Wednesday) to April 5 (Easter Sunday) in observance of the Holy Week. 'Regular office transactions will resume on April 7, 2026 (Tuesday),' it added.
