Comelec Releases Tentative List of Candidates for Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has unveiled the tentative list of candidates and nominees for the upcoming Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) scheduled for September 14. This announcement marks a significant step in the electoral process, allowing the public to access the list of parliamentary district representatives and nominees from Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPPs) and Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations (PSOs) on the official Comelec website.

According to Philippines News Agency, the list comprises 13 RPPPs and features 30 nominees from PSOs. These nominees include eight representatives for settler communities, six for women, three for youth, three for ulama, and ten for traditional leaders. Additionally, the list includes 107 candidates vying for parliamentary district representative positions across various districts: 17 candidates in Basilan’s four districts, 10 in Cotabato City’s three districts, 33 in Lanao del Sur’s nine districts, 11 in Maguindanao del Norte’s five districts, 16 in Maguindanao del Sur’s five districts, seven in the Special Geographic Area’s two districts, and 13 in Tawi-Tawi’s four districts.

Comelec has urged all candidates, parties, and nominees to review the list for any clerical or typographical errors. If any discrepancies are found in the names that will appear on the official ballot, aspirants have until May 18, 2026, to file a request for correction with the Law Department.

The inclusion of names on the list does not preclude the filing of petitions with the Office of the Clerk of the Commission regarding the qualifications of nominees or candidates. Comelec emphasized that the posting serves as a public notice regarding the nominees’ declarations of their qualifications.
