Laoag city: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has resumed voter registration ahead of the Nov. 2 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, under the commission's Resolution 11177.
According to Philippines News Agency, in Laoag City, a special voter registration was held at the basketball court of Barangay 1, San Lorenzo, where 91 new voters registered. San Lorenzo, one of 80 barangays in the city, has the largest voting population with 3,535 registered voters, excluding those who registered between August and December last year.
Morales described the turnout of nearly 100 applicants as a 'big accomplishment' for an on-site registration, crediting the collaboration between the Comelec and the barangay local government. Comelec-Laoag is bringing special voter registration closer to communities, particularly in highly urbanized areas and remote villages, as it aims for a safer and more convenient registration process.
