Comelec Completes Voting Machine Tests in CDO Precincts

Cagayan de Oro: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday finalized preparations for Monday’s elections by completing testing and sealing of Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) across Cagayan de Oro precincts, with officials assuring transparency in the process. First District Election Officer Joel Dexter Nagtalon confirmed all machines would remain secured in polling centers until election day after passing operational checks.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nagtalon stated, “We will run initialization reports to make it transparent that the units have no pre-recorded entries,” during a radio interview. He also noted a significant increase in the district’s voter registry, which grew from 177,000 in 2022 to 211,000 this year, highlighting the importance of ensuring the integrity of the election process.

Separately, the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) addressed concerns regarding the security of election materials following a logistics truck accident in Valencia City, Bukidnon on May 5. PRO-10 director, Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman, assured that “all equipment and materials are handled under strict security protocols,” confirming that the truck had already successfully delivered its cargo before the collision occurred.
