City Government Unveils Incentive Ordinance for Nano Enterprises

Iloilo city: The local government here unveiled the Nano Enterprise Incentives Ordinance designed to assist small business owners through various programs and incentives. Mayor Raisa Tre±as announced the initiative, highlighting that nano entrepreneurs include sari-sari stores, carinderias, parlors, and those with a capital of PHP250,000 and less.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Tre±as stated that for the next five years, the ordinance will offer graduated discounts to help legitimize businesses. The ordinance features training and assistance programs from the government, providing a 75-percent discount on regulatory fees and business tax in the first year of registration, followed by 50 percent in the second year, and 25 percent in the third year.

The mayor emphasized that the plan aims to implement interventions similar to the Uswag Negosyo Academy (UNA), offering training in merchandising, financial literacy, and business management. Upon completion, participants will receive an additional PHP5,000 as seed capital. Tre±as also expressed the city's vision for nano enterprises to grow into larger, sustainable businesses within five years.

The launch event at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand was attended by Councilor Miguel Tre±as, the author of the ordinance, along with various government offices and private sector partners. Financial institutions were also present, setting up on-site booths to provide direct access to financial services for participants.
