CIDG Operations in February Lead to Arrest of Over 1,000 Suspects and Seizure of PHP851-M in Evidence

Manila: The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested 1,009 wanted persons, fugitives, communist rebels, and members of criminal groups, and seized more than PHP851 million worth of evidence during nationwide manhunt and anti-criminality operations in February.

According to Philippines News Agency, CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II stated that under Oplan OLEA (Other Law Enforcement Activities), the CIDG confiscated PHP851.13 million worth of evidence from police operations. These operations targeted illicit, counterfeit, trademark infringing, and substandard products, as well as the pilferage of petroleum products, illegal logging, illegal gambling, and illegal mining, among other activities.

Among those apprehended were a National Most Wanted Person (MWP) with a reward, 75 Regional MWPs, 104 Provincial MWPs, 83 City/Municipal MWPs, and 5 communist rebels.

Furthermore, 873 law enforcement operations led to the confiscation of 137 loose firearms, including 13 light weapons and 124 small arms, 28 explosives, 121 assorted magazines, and 1,541 rounds of live ammunition.

The CIDG emphasized that the month-long accomplishment highlights the unit's continued efforts against all forms of criminality and law violations, as well as its persistent manhunt operations across the country.
